Poderi Luigi Einaudi:
an Italian excellence story
More than a tour of an historical cellar and much more than a simple wine tasting: it was a journey through 4 generations, an impeccable welcome to find out a long family story that with great passion and dedication has managed to promote the territory in the best way and produce some of the most appreciated wines in the world.
The Cellar | The story begins with a distinguished character, Mr. Luigi Einaudi - President of the Italian Republic in the early 50s - and continues through the years with investments, projects, innovation and at the same time respect for family traditions. That’s how they became Barolo wine producers & obtained the prestigious Docg Dogliani attainment in 2006, that’s how they have currently reached the production of 350.000 bottles per year of fine wines, appreciated all over the world. With the care for details, like in the choice of corks: unique pieces from Portugal and Sardinia; with a modern computer controlled fermentation cellar where wine rests into elegant cement tanks with a wine glass shape; with a majestic Barolo cellar where to breathe air of excellence, among 45 year old barrels.
The Tasting | Completely surrounded by dozens of wine bottles elegantly and neatly arranged on high walls, with the view of Langhe hills on the background we had a great taste experience; an interesting journey through the ‘Nebbiolo’s Expressions’ with the tasting of six references and a selection of local cold cuts and cheese.
You’ll find all the details here.
The Lodge | The historic and traditional family house has been renovated to complete the experience at Poderi Einaudi: charme, elegance, a wise choice of warm colours and fine details make it the ideal location for a perfect Langhe stay. A special treat: a wine bottle shaped pool, with a view on the vineyards of course.
With enthusiasm, accuracy and professionalism our tour guide perfectly conveyed the values and the great passion this family has always shared through the years, exactly the same ones promoted by the current guide, Mr. Matteo Sardagna Einaudi inspired by the walks as a child through the vineyards with his grandfather; and that’s exactly what impressed us the most of Poderi Einaudi, reading between the lines of an elegant label and the ruby red color of a Barolo wine that made us proud to be Italian, once again.
